A lot of our youth who are part of the LGBTQ community face threats, verbal abuse, and sometimes even physical abuse. Simply put, LGBTQ students feel unsafe.  According to statistics, nearly 60% of them attest to fearing for their safety at school, while 95% have also been subjected to some form of verbal abuse.

At Elite Learners, Inc. we celebrate our differences and encourage all our Elite learners to do the same. We believe that opening a safe space for expression is integral to developing responsible future leaders. We discourage discrimination while empowering understanding.

This is exactly what our LGBTQ Clubhouse is. This clubhouse was born out of the need to unite with the NYC Department of Education in order to support LGBTQ students within public schools.

It is an environment where learners from all diverse communities come together in a safe space where they can express themselves. Our mentors help students as they go through various transitions in life.

The relationships built through our clubhouse go beyond the four corners of the room. In our mentors, students will find lifelong confidantes they can rely on, build lasting friendships with fellow clubmates and find their voices.

For us, this is just the beginning. We will be expanding this program to include junior high schools.

Program Goals:

  • Provide a safe space for expression
  • Empower communication
  • Guide students as they go through various transitions in life
